Piz (Chris Lowell) is put in charge of escorting his idol, Desmond Fellows (guest star Paul Rudd, "Anchorman"), a singer/musician from a 1990's pop band who arrives on the Hearst campus to perform at a benefit concert for the radio station. When tapes of Fellow's back-up vocals and tracks go missing, Piz recruits Veronica (Kristen Bell) to help locate them. Keith (Enrico Colantoni) believes he will be running unopposed in the race for Sheriff, until an unlikely candidate throws his hat into the ring. Jason Dohring, Percy Daggs, Francis Capra, Ryan Hansen Tina Majorino and Julie Gonzalo also star. Dan Etheridge directed the episode written by John Enbom.

Un-American Graffiti. Veronica (Kristen Bell) is hired by a Middle Eastern restaurant owner to find out who has been vandalizing their business with ethnic slurs. While investigating the case, Veronica and the restaurant owner are attacked in a drive-by shooting. When a drunk teenager stumbles from a bar and gets hit by a car, Keith (Enrico Colantoni) orders his deputies to conduct surprise ID checks in all the area bars. While doing his own surprise search, Keith catches Piz (Chris Lowell) and Wallace (Percy Daggs) using fake ID's provided by Veronica. Meanwhile, Logan (Jason Dohring) decides to throw a birthday party for Parker (Julie Gonzalo). Francis Capra and Ryan Hansen also star. Dan Etheridge directed the episode written by John Enbom.
I have to say, I haven't missed the show nearly as much as I would have wished to during the hiatus -- the level of wishing related to level of goodness this season, of course.
And tonight we have:
String Theory. Hiro and Ando find themselves five years after the destruction of New York City. People with extraordinary abilities are labeled as terrorists and are being registered, hunted, and killed. Hiro and Ando meet up with darker versions of the other heroes in preparation for a showdown with the President. This includes a darker side of Matt, a Jessica/Niki with a clear winner in their battle, a brown-haired Claire, and a man named Andy, who's a big hearted Texan. It also features an event at an upscale gentleman's club.
Finally, new television! Who will be the next dead woman on HEROES (duh-duh-duhm!)?
.07%. Sylar and Peter face off. Sylar will face off with another Hero and Isaac's new pictures show a dead Hero without a brain. Two unexpected reunions will occur and Linderman will reveal to Nathan shocking secrets and plans. We will meet a computer savvy geek and a competent security guard who works in the Corinthian Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. A hero dies.
Now with 100 percent more face-offs!
I might not watch the ep until tomorrow, but comment away. (Actually, I'm so starved for television, I probably will watch it. I've been watching Roswell repeats on Sci-Fi, people, which are, um, new to me. I find it charmingly quaint and Mayberry-esque, but with lusty teenagers -- even the mean teenager is really kind of nice.)
I just heard from Veronica mastermind and showrunner Rob Thomas, who tells me, "If we're cancelled, I certainly don't know about it."
And according to CW insiders, the CW has not officially canceled Veronica Mars. However, here's the catch: They are currently considering a different format for the fourth season. From what I hear, that format would leap four years into the future and focus on Veronica Mars as an FBI agent. Aside from returning star Kristen Bell (duh), the rest of the cast is yet to be determined, but it isn't likely that many of her current co-stars would be on board.
Okay, so this seems highly unlikely, but I would love to see the show attempt to pull this off.

Parasite. As the election and destruction of New York approach, Nathan meets up with Linderman. Hiro attempts to steal the sword heading him in a new path. Suresh and Sylar make progress with the list at great cost. D.L. begins to suspect problems at home. Isaac paints an even more terrible painting. A new hero, Candice Wilmer, appears. Simone isn't dead yet.
Can't we just leave this one of all the Dead Heroes Women dead? Please?

It's pretty sad that the over-the-shark-and-through-the-woods version of the Gilmore Girls was better than the Veronica Mars that followed last week. This week:

Logan (Jason Dohring) is wallowing in self-pity after his breakup with Veronica (Kristen Bell), so Dick (Ryan Hansen) invites two girls over to cheer Logan up, but Logan gets stuck entertaining Heather (guest star Juliette Goglia), who is only 13 years old. Together, Keith (Enrico Colantoni) and Veronica visit Bonnie's father, a well-known televangelist, Reverend Capistrano (guest star Chris Ellis, "Ghost Whisperer"). Veronica confronts Logan (Jason Dohring) about sleeping with Madison Sinclair (guest star Amanda Noret, "7th Heaven") while they were broken up. In order to find the missing animal, Veronica and Mac (Tina Majorino) go undercover as members of an on-campus animal rights group, believed to have freed the monkey. Meanwhile, Mindy O'Dell (guest star Jamie Ray Newman, "E Ring") asks Keith (Enrico Colantoni) to investigate Dean O'Dell's (Ed Begley, Jr., who does not appear in the episode) death because she believes he was murdered. Percy Daggs, Francis Capra, Michael Muhney, Ryan Hansen, Chris Lowell and Julie Gonzalo also star. Nick Marck directed the episode story by John Ebrom and teleplay by John Enbom and Robby Hull.
Let's hope the animal rights activists are painted with a more subtle brush than the feminists of the last arc. And also that the show's chances for another season aren't signaled by what will apparently be an 8-week hiatus following this arc for some reality show called Pussycat Dolls.
Finally, new television:
Godsend. Matt reveals himself to his wife. HRG confers with Mohinder. Now that she knows the truth, Claire tries to make sense of her life. Hiro seeks the sword that he is destined to own. Niki must face the consequences of her decision to turn herself in to the police. Simone and Nathan are worried about Peter, who has been in a coma for two weeks. A new hero is introduced who meets Peter and offers him a different view of the recent changes in the human evolutionary process. Micah visits his mother.
Looks like an action-packed one.

AS-P: It's called The Return of Jezebel James, and it's basically a sister buddy comedy. It's about a very successful, very driven, very problem-solving kind of woman who's a young-adult book publisher. She has her own imprint. And she decides to have a baby on her own, and the doctor says, "Whoops, you're not going to be able to do that by yourself. Sorry, sweetheart!" And she winds up tracking down her younger, much-less-focused sister, who's the polar opposite of her. And she says to her, "I will cut you a deal and pay you to carry my baby for me. But you have to move in with me, so that I can watch you and make sure it doesn't come out with three heads." And the younger sister, having very limited options, agrees, and that's where our series takes off. But the pilot is these two women reconnecting and cutting a deal.

Niki receives a visit from her fathers which brings out the worst in her. Hiro tries to alter the future for someone important to him. Claire discovers her abilities right after joining the cheerleading squad, and her father meets up with someone special.
Also, after talking to Ted about it over the weekend, we're considering getting a Playstation 2 so we can fight giants and play Katamari Damacy. (Yes, in our copious amounts of free time.) This seems suitably geeky in topic to pair with the Heroes chat, so thoughts on the concept are also welcome here.

There’s a bit of good news regarding “Veronica Mars.” According to a source at the show, the Tuesday-night CW drama has received an order for three additional scripts, and directors have been hired for those scripts. As is standard with most TV shows, “Mars” got an initial order for 13 episodes in the spring, when it was picked up for a third season. However it is not yet known if “Mars” will get the additional episodes it would need to fill out a 22 episode season, or the “back nine,” as its called in TV parlance. The CW is expected to make a decision regarding back nine for “Veronica Mars” this week.

Witchita Linebacker. Veronica (Kristen Bell) is hired by a campus football player to help him find his stolen playbook before the next practice, or risk losing his scholarship. As a result of the expose Veronica wrote about the campus sorority, Dean O'Dell (guest star Ed Begley, Jr., "Arrested Development") threatens to expel her if she doesn't reveal one of her sources. Logan (Jason Dohring) tells Veronica his schedule is keeping them apart, but she realizes he has been spending time participating in illegal gambling. Meanwhile, Veronica convinces Keith (Enrico Colantoni) to hire Weevil (Francis Capra) to assist with office work at Mars Investigations.

If Harold doesn't win this bitch I swear...I'm...well, I'm not really going to do much of anything - I mean, I'm not really confrontational or for that matter very motivated or anything...so, it's more of an empty threat...but, I will seriously be very confused and more than a little angry. For like a couple minutes until someone waves something shiny in front of me and then that would more than likely grab my attention pretty good.

Erin Keane: Further gratuitous Harold commentary: sleeveless black t-shirt? Hot. Though I hope those white shoes were, like, regulation uniform shoes or something. They looked orthopedic to me. I should know. I wore orthopedic shoes until kindergarten. What the fuck, I was pigeontoed. But I never wore them into a sex shop, or paired them with a hot sleeveless number that makes me look like the oldest boy left in high school, the one with the Z-28 and the substitute teacher's phone number, you know the guy who'd been shaving, or not, for so long he no longer fronted the ratstache just to prove he could, preferring to graduate to a three-o'clock shadow that gave your face a particular flavor of rug burn that betrayed your afterschool activities to your parents who angrily whispered things like "juvie" and "Outward Bound" after they thought you'd gone to bed. God, where did I put my Guns 'n' Roses album?

After uncovering the culprit, her life is endangered as she tries to warn those closest to the killer. Also, Wallace learns some surprising information about Jackie, and the seniors celebrate their graduation with a lavish party at the Neptune Grand.
Parting is such sweet sorrow!

Partings. In the sixth-season finale, Lorelai tries to avoid Luke and ends up pouring her heart out to a psychologist (Melora Hardin) who was invited to dinner at her parents' house. Elsewhere, Rory tries to avoid the Huntzbergers, particularly Mitchum, as she attends Logan's graduation and prepares for his inevitable departure; and Taylor's bothered by an influx of troubadours to Stars Hollow. Mary Lynn Rajskub, Sam Phillips, Grant Lee Phillips, Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, Sparks and Joe Pernice appear.
At least we have the bands to look forward to.
Almost certainly coming back for season 3, which we knew, and switching next season to three long mysteries rather than one season-long one, which I didn't. That Kristin person talks to Rob Thomas.
I might also say that it sounds like Chance called the return of George Michael and Maebe. Maybe.
He also says everything from Season 2 will be tied up in the finale.

Driving Miss Gilmore. Temporarily unable to see after minor eye surgery, Emily (Kelly Bishop) enlists Lorelai's (Lauren Graham) help as her driver and companion, finally revealing a huge surprise that catches Lorelai completely off-guard. Meanwhile, Rory takes charge of Logan's recovery when he is released from the hospital. Finally, Luke (Scott Patterson) helps his sister Liz (Kathleen Whilhoite) and her husband T.J. (Michael DeLuise) deal with Liz's pregnancy. Melissa McCarthy, Edward Herrmann, Yanic Truesdale, Liza Weil and Sean Gunn also star. The episode was written by Amy Sherman-Palladino & Daniel Palladino and directed by Jamie Babbit.
Oh, how sad this episode made me, because it felt like a return to form. Definitely one of the better eps of the season, I thought. Which means most of y'all probably hated it.
Ausiello: So you wouldn't rule out returning for the finale?
Amy: A lot of it's gonna depend on where the show goes next year. I have very strong, emotional feelings about things — some are rational, some are not. [Laughs] It's going to be a whole different trip next year, with different story lines that don't come out of my head, so I think that's something that's really hard to talk about at this point. Especially since I plan on being drunk the entire year.
Even though there have been a LOT of problems with this season, still very sad... Although oddly, they seem completely unaware of the problems with this season.
This show, however, still makes me happy.
"Look Who's Stalking" When Gia is convinced she's being stalked, Veronica takes the case despite her dad's orders not to get involved. What she discovers not only shocks both girls, but leads to further questions.
So happy, in fact, that I just called Dish Network and switched from the New York UPN affiliate to Boston's so I wouldn't be VMless until Sunday. Take that, NBA!
Why am I suddenly feeling like I have to watch the rest of this season with my hands over my eyes?
Super Cool Party People. Luke (Scott Patterson) decides to give April (Vanessa Marano) a birthday party at the diner. Lorelai (Lauren Graham) volunteers to help, and is hurt when Luke explains that he still thinks it's too soon for April and Lorelai to meet. However, Luke changes his mind when the party is a disaster, giving Lorelai a chance to bond with April while turning the party into a huge success. Meanwhile, Rory (Alexis Bledel) rushes to be with Logan (Matt Czuchry) at the hospital after he is seriously injured during a stunt with the Life and Death Brigade. Melissa McCarthy, Yanic Truesdale, Liza Weil and Sean Gunn also star. The episode was written by David Rosenthal and directed by Ken Whittingham.
Except I will not be going "Lalalalalala" until 10 p.m. tomorrow because of The Damn Basketball!
"Nevermind the Buttocks" When Veronica decides to take on a case to find the person who ran over a Neptune senior’s dog, she is taken aback by the startling facts she uncovers.

I Get A Sidekick Out of You. On the night before Lane (Keiko Agena) and Zach (guest star Todd Lowe) get married, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory's (Alexis Bledel) plans for a bachelorette party go awry, as do the plans made by Zach's buddies, so the two groups end up together for a makeshift party in a vacant parking lot. Mrs. Kim (Emily Kuroda) informs Lorelai that she cannot attend Lane's wedding without an escort. Since Luke (Scott Patterson) is still out of town, Lorelai invites Christopher (David Sutcliffe) to be her date. Everyone attends two wedding ceremonies-one Buddhist and one Seventh Day Adventist-followed by a wild wedding reception in the town square. Melissa McCarthy, Yanic Truesdale, Liza Weil and Sean Gunn also star. The episode was written and directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino.

“I Am God” A restless Veronica is plagued by dreams in which the students killed in the bus crash confront her.

Well, this is kind of aberrant. A new episode of Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars on the same night (portent?). I'm doing a post for each though, so things don't get all confused later.
"The Real Paul Anka" Lorelai (Lauren Graham) has a bizarre dream in which singer/songwriter Paul Anka has a cameo role. Meanwhile, although Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Logan (Matt Czuchry) are back together, Logan is miserable knowing that Rory hasn't really forgiven him, and he takes off with his friends for another stunt with the Life and Death Brigade. Rory accepts Jess' (guest star Milo Ventimiglia) invitation to attend an open house at his new book store/art gallery/publishing house in Philadelphia. While there, she is surprised to run into Luke (Scott Patterson), who is accompanying his daughter April (guest star Vanessa Marano) on an academic field trip. Back in Stars Hollow, Lorelai is horrified to find that Richard (Edward Herrmann) and Emily (Kelly Bishop) have been looking at real estate in her town. Keiko Agena, Liza Weil and Sean Gunn also star. The episode was written and directed by Daniel Palladino.
Oh, great, a character assassin-penned ep. At least there's Jess.
