Set DVRs Now

Showtime's Masters of Horror series features an adaptation of "The Screwfly Solution" by Raccoona Sheldon (aka James Tiptree, Jr., aka Alice Sheldon) directed by Joe Dante tonight at ~~8 p.m.~~10 p.m. (by our schedule, anyway). You can read the story here. (Thanks, Ginger!)

I thought it odd that the credit line in Showtime's production read "based on a short story by James Tiptree, Jr."

We had hoped to give the based-on credit to "Raccoona Sheldon," the name under which the story was originally published in Analog, but the Sheldon estate insisted we use the Tiptree byline instead.

Desk-Cleaning Fun Cleaning the desk, which led to thirty minutes of searching for "The Incredibly Hideous Tale of the Incredibly Hideous Vampire," a little comic C made a few years back. Sadly, it appears to have been eaten. (Spoiler: The Incredibly Hideous Vampire did not even realize he had a flowerpot on his head!) I did find a rough version of the first two pages for a sequel however. Which I reproduce below for your edification:
